Min | Day will be operating out of 4 locations during the first half of 2012.

Min | Day won an Honor Award in the "details" category for the Bemis Soft Cube and a Citation Award in the "interior architeture" category for Fogscape / Cloudscape in the 2011 AIA Nebraska Design Awards. Only 8 awards were conferred in total by the jury this year.

Jeff will be serving on the juries of 4 AIA chapters this year: AIA Virginia, AIA Ohio Valley, AIA Dallas (unbuilt awards jury chair) and AIA South Dakota (chair).

E.B. and Jeff led a public charrette called the small o: mircourbanism in omaha on May 19, 2011 from 4 - 6pm at the Bemis Center in Omaha. The event was part of a Bemis Gardens exhibition / design lab. While the discourse of urbanism is usually written at the macro scale (focussing on large-scale infrastructure, architectural ensembles, district to district relationships and the aggregate flows of commerce), much of the social life of the city forms itself around the micro-scale spaces between things. The charrette focussed on how the Bemis Center's outdoor spaces fit into, and could exert influence on, a loose network of urban landscapes in downtown Omaha and environs.

Immediately following the the even E.B. and Jeff presented the lecture Recent Abductions, sponsored by AIA Omaha and held at the Bemis Center. An edited video of the lecture is available through AIA Omaha.

Min | Day + FACT are participants in Bemis Gardens, an exhibition and design laboratory that will transform the Bemis Center's exterior into a public art site and urban garden, and speculate on the urban condition of the contemporary art center and its relationship with downtown Omaha. In the midst of the Building | Bemis construction process, a project that will result in a significant expansion of the artist-in-residence program, renovated fabrication facilities and a restored front dock — this exhibition and project series serves to initiate a holistic reconsideration of the Center’s land use and exterior relationships with the public. The exhibition and event series runs from April 29 - July 28, 2011.

On Friday, April 22 Jeff gave a lecture at the Spencer Museum of Art in Lawrence, Kansas for the KU School of Architecture.

The San Francisco Design Center has named Min | Day as the 2011 Designer of Distinction in the Residential Creative Spaces category. The award was conferred at a luncheon in San Francisco on February 3.

Jeff wil be presenting recent work and ideas from Min | Day + FACT at the next Pecha Kucha Night in Omaha on January 20, 2011.

Residential Architect Magazine named Min | Day it's 2010 Rising Star. The magazine published a feature on us in it's September / October issue and E.B. & Jeff have been invited to speak at Residential Architect's Reinvention Conference in New Orleans on December 7, 2010.

Min | Day won a merit award in the "details" category for the Bemis InfoShop in the 2010 AIA Nebraska Design Awards. Only 10 awards were conferred in total this year.

The CalmDome, a collaboration between Min | Day and art collective Carnal Torpor was installed at the Bemis Center in Omaha as part of the exhibition Hopey Changey Things, June-September 2010.

Min | Day received the following awards from the AIA San Francisco in 2010:

AIA San Francisco Citation Award for Unbuilt Design, CROPS Food Center

Min | Day received one of only 4 design awards given by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) at the organization's 2010 conference.

Min | Day's design for the Community CROPS Food Center and urban farm in Lincoln Nebraska was featured in the AIA San Francisco's exhibition, Vertical Gardens. The show ran from February 25 - May 14, 2010 at the Center for Architecture & Design Gallery.

Min | Day is one of only three American firms selected by Architectural Record for it's 10th anniversary edition of its prestigious Design Vanguard issue. Published in the December 2009 issue of the magazine, the feature presents the work of 10 international architectural firms under 10 years old.

Min | Day is proud to be part of the launch of Hometta.com, a new collaborative web venture that offers modern house plans for sale. The Wide Open House and the Wedge House (see our web Portfolio) are the first of several Min | Day projects that will be available exclusively through Hometta.com.

Min | Day has been selected as one of 6 "New Practices" by the AIA San Francisco. New Practices San Francisco, the West Coast premiere of AIA New York’s annual portfolio competition and exhibition, is a platform for recognizing and promoting new and emerging architecture firms within San Francisco that have undertaken innovative strategies – both in projects and practice. Distinguishing this award from others given to new practices is the attention focused on how the winning firms are uniquely shaped to better facilitate the type of projects that they undertake. 

Our work will be exhibited at the Center for Architecture in New York (June 4 - September 19, 2009) and at the Center for Architecture + Design Gallery in San Francisco (November 12, 2009 - January 29, 2010). We will participate in a symposium at the Center in New York on June 5, 2009 and at other events to follow in San Francisco. Min | Day's Okoboji House in West Lake Okoboji, Iowa is the featured Home of the Month in the May, 2009 issue of Metropolitan Home Magazine. Completed in 2008, the house, landscape and all interiors were designed by Min | Day. The interiors include custom furniture designed by M | D and fabricated under our direction along other pieces and finishes selected by the office. Min | Day's wheelchair-accessible swimming pool addition to the Saratoga House won a national AIA Small Project Honor Award for accessible design. Previously, the project was been included by German publisher daab in their book, POOL DESIGN.
